Centreboard yawl ‘Wadkrabber’

Centreboard yawl ‘Wadkrabber’, loa 7.90m, beam 2.45m, draught 0.36/1.68m, sail area 30m², displacement 1.9 ton, designed by Arend Lambrechtsen, conceived by Hans Vandersmissen, currently on the stocks at Nijman Jachtbouw, Middelburg and due to be launched in August 2007. The Kevlar sheathed wood-epoxy hull is light, very stiff and strong. Four adults find spacious bunks, sound sitting headroom and a fine galley below. Shallow draught and easily lowerable masts make the yawl the best boat for East coast rivers, The Wash, the Dutch Waddenzee and inland waters, even beyond fixed bridges. The mizzen keeps the craft’s head to wind at anchor, improves self steering and makes light work of reducing canvas when the wind pipes up. She’ll brave the North Sea in a gale. Her sensible mixture of traditional appeal and modern hydrodynamics, make Wadkrabber ideal for enjoying nature without the fuss of marinas, the neighbours’ clattering halyards and astronomical harbour dues.
